We understand that circumstances can change. This Refund Policy explains when and how refunds apply for programs at Light Automation Academy. This policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
1. Cooling-Off Period (7-Day Full Refund)
You may cancel your enrollment within 7 days of payment and receive a full refund, provided classes have not yet started. To cancel within the cooling-off period:
- Email academy@lightautomations.com with the subject line "Cancellation Request"
- Include your full name, program enrolled, and payment reference
- The refund will be processed to your original payment method within 14 business days
2. Refunds After Classes Begin
Once classes commence, refunds are calculated on a prorated basis depending on how much of the program you have completed at the time of cancellation:

| Between 10% and 25% of program duration | 50% refund |
| Between 25% and 50% of program duration | 25% refund |
| After 50% of program duration | No refund — credit note may be issued at Academy's discretion |
Example: For the 12-month Academy Program at ₦1,200,000:
- Cancel within first 36 days (10%) → refund of ₦960,000
- Cancel between 36 and 90 days (10–25%) → refund of ₦600,000
- Cancel between 90 and 180 days (25–50%) → refund of ₦300,000
- Cancel after 180 days → no cash refund
3. Non-Refundable Items
The following fees are not refundable under any circumstances:
- Application and admission processing fees (if any)
- Software licenses already issued to the Student
- Training materials and manuals already distributed
- Examination and certification fees (if already paid to external bodies)
- Industry visit or field trip costs already incurred
4. Refunds Due to Academy Action
If the Academy cancels or fails to deliver a program due to circumstances within our control, you are entitled to:
- A full refund of all fees paid for the affected program, or
- Transfer to an equivalent program at no additional cost, or
- Credit toward a future intake
5. Program Transfers and Deferrals
Instead of cancelling, you may request to:
- Defer your intake: Transfer your enrollment to the next available intake within 12 months at no additional cost
- Switch programs: Transfer your fees toward a different program (differences in fees to be paid or refunded accordingly)
- Transfer enrollment: In exceptional circumstances, transfer your enrollment to another person (subject to their successful application and Academy approval)
Transfer and deferral requests must be submitted in writing and approved by the Academy.
6. Dismissal and Disciplinary Action
Students dismissed from a program for violating the Student Code of Conduct are not entitled to a refund. This includes dismissal for:
- Academic dishonesty or cheating
- Harassment or discrimination
- Theft or vandalism
- Serious safety violations
- Non-payment of installments
7. Medical and Emergency Circumstances
In cases of serious illness, family emergency, or other extraordinary circumstances preventing a Student from continuing, the Academy will review refund or deferral requests on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation (medical certificate, etc.) will be required.
8. How to Request a Refund
To submit a refund request:
- Send an email to academy@lightautomations.com
- Subject line: "Refund Request — [Your Full Name]"
- Include: full name, program, enrollment date, payment receipt, reason for refund, and bank account details for refund transfer
The Academy will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and communicate the outcome within 14 business days. Approved refunds are processed within a further 14 business days.
9. Refund Method
Refunds are issued to the original account from which payment was made. We do not issue cash refunds. All refunds are in Nigerian Naira (₦) — exchange rate fluctuations between payment and refund are not compensated.
10. Disputes
If you disagree with a refund decision, you may:
- Request a review by the Managing Director within 14 days
- Pursue mediation in good faith
- Ultimately, seek resolution through the courts of Oyo State, Nigeria
